Have You Tried This ?

Hello and Welcome!

As a parent who is now 11 years into my son’s life and all his cuteness, I have a chance to exhale. There was never a chance to even locate information and resources when he was an infant I was like many parents trying to make it through the day. I thought it was colic, I thought he was fussy, I heard so many opinions from people I didn’t know my head was about to explode.(Not to mention I felt like punching a few of them.)  I couldn’t think clearly. I wish there was one site where I could go where other parents knew the practical side of living day-to-day life with a child with Autism.  A site where I could get information on other resources  Where they knew I wasn’t a bad parent who couldn’t control my child! My child was struggling to deal with all of us!  I was along for the ride.  Topper has Severe Autism, he is Non-Verbal, he has Digestive Disorders, Allergies to foods many Medical factors that make it harder for him.  He has poor Body awareness so he falls a lot.  Has trouble using a fork, spoon, straw and even a toilet.  He is not unlike many of his friends at his Autism school. I know I am not alone, going all over for appointments and coming home because that is the only place your son can tolerate leaves no time to speak with other parents and hear what worked for them.  Hopefully these pages will help and if you happened to have tried any, even if it did not work for you please leave a comment and it will be added to the list. What doesn’t work for one could be just what someone else has needed.

Parents of a child with autism are busy 24/7!!!

A meeting was held quite far from Earth

It was time again for another birth.

Said the Angels to the Lord above –

“This special child will need much love.

“Her progress may be very slow

“Accomplishment she may not show.

“And she’ll require extra care

“From the folks she meets down there.

“She may not run or laugh or play

“Her thoughts may seem quite far away

“So many times she will be labeled

“’different,’ ‘helpless’ and disabled.

“So, let’s be careful where she’s sent.

“We want her life to be content.

“Please, Lord, find the parents who

“Will do a special job for you.

“They will not realize right away

“The leading role they are asked to play.

“But with this child sent from above

“Comes stronger faith, and richer love.

“And soon they’ll know the privilege given

“In caring for their gift from heaven.

“Their precious charge, so meek and mild

“Is heaven’s very special child.”
